Jimmy Carter: People Say the Darndest Things

What will he do just to get a headline?  Well he’ll label everyone who disagrees with Obama as a racist for starters.  And the Democrats are eating it up I’m sure.  Another distraction from the real issues.  Another red herring to distract us from the barracuda sneaking up behind us.

Frankly Americans should not only be embarrassed by such behaviour, particularly from a previous president of our great nation, but they should be angry.   Every white American that voted for Obama or any politician of color should be particularly angry.  “White” Americans have been put in one of two boxes and both involve the so-called “race” debate.  You voted against someone of color because of their color, not their qualifications or lack there of.  Or you voted for someone of color because you want to offer reparations to the colored community and felt guilt over the history of our “race’s” involvement in slavery in this country.

Of course, you probably thought you were voting for them because you thought they were qualified or liked what they said, but you didn’t.  Well, at least, that is what people like Carter and others in the media and Democratic party have implied.  And heaven forbid if you voted for him and now don’t support him.  Your sudden change of imind is not because of his policies or lack of leadership ability. It defnitely has to be racial, didn’t you know that?

The liberal elites don’t need a defense for their unswavering support of Obama or other black leaders.  Their support is because they have risen above the race debate, but that only applies to the liberal elite of this country (I guess that is why they can so succintly ignore or demonize other black candidates that are conservatice rather than liberal).  The rest of us are still mired down in the bog of racial tension and misunderstandings.  Convenient, isn’t it.  Because no matter which way you lean, either for or against, your persuasion will be made racial.

Of course, you see, the real problem is that we use the word “race” anyway.  It is lovely fodder for those who want to stir up dissent and as long as we all continue to feed out of the trough of racial ideology, they will continue to supply plenty of fodder to distract us from the real issues.

The idea of different races is faulty because we are all the same race, Human.  We didn’t evolve at different times and our differences are not so much biological as social.  We have different outside appearances, phenotype (i.e. skin color, eye color, hair), but we all work the same way and carry the same basic genetic structure, genotype (granted I am presenting a very simplistic view of it here).  We all had a common ancestor, not several that sprouted up at different times and in different places.

People have, over time, decided to choose two of the most observable differences, skin color and gender,  and use them to divide us and decide quality. People will always find a way to divide other people into groups, to segregate people.  It is human nature to try and put one group above another.  Some countries use caste systems, some use skin color, some use the region where people were born, some use gender, and so forth and so on.

The racial division should be the most offensive one though, because it simply is not true and is an arbitrary distinction based on a few phenotypical characteristics.  What’s worse is that people on both sides of the discrimination feed it.  The ones being discriminated against don’t stand up and say, “Hey, wait a minute, we are all humans, so we are all equal by defalt.”  Instead, they choose to defend this racial division and try to “prove” themselves equal or better.  Why?  Because if you can prove your “race” is “better,” then you can claim genetic superiority, not just superiority because of phenotypical differences.

So, we will never move past racial division because people on both sides have no desire to.  It actually works in their favor no matter how you look at it and when you have a card like race to play, why give it up for plain old ethnic differences and genetic isolation back a couple thousand years?  White politicians, like Carter, use it to elevate themselves and get support, colored communities use it to get special treatment and perhaps someday “prove” they are the superior race because then you have geentics backing you, and others use it to “prove” they are actually superior.

Unfortunately, for those of us who don’t make our judgements based on skin pigments, we are stuck somewhere in the middle.   Maybe we are actually the most discriminated against in all this because everyone calls us liars or wants to hush us so we don’t ruin their game.  As long as I am white I will be called a racist if I disagree with someone with darker skin than me because it works to their advantage.  And for the black person who decides to side with someone considered “white,” they will be rejected as a traitor to their “race” and considered a brainwashed ninny or worse yet, “one of them.”

So don’t hold your breath waiting for this great joining together of the “races.”  As long as one side has something to gain from the division, it will never go away.  So the most I can do is call out these liberal elites and tell them “You Lie,” because when it is all said and done, they will do whatever they want anyway as long as it gets them the power they want.  The House, Senate, and Media censured the silent majority before they ever spoke out.
