A Nation of Esau’s
I have been silent far too long. I may be a day late and a dollar short, but I will issue my warning before the final day of this three ring circus everyone calls an election. It should be no surprise we are in an economic downturn. We have been driven like cattle to this point. Elected officials have been allowed to run rampant. And now, many of us are losing our jobs and homes. We are tired and hungry. We are vulnerable. We are easy pickings for the elitists that pretend to care. The elitists whose only goal is total control of this country and our lives. They are the ones taking us back to the dark ages.
We have become easy prey for the very forces and ideologies our founding fathers fought against and gave their lives escaping from. They knew the answer was not Marxism, or fascism, or a dictatorship, or a monarchy, or socialism, or communism. Why? Because those very things were what they were escaping from. They knew the answer was not big government. They knew, from experience that some things come at too high a cost. We now must realize these lessons before it is too late. We are at a crossroads and must make a choice between the freedom or founding fathers and many since then have died to give us or a hand out.
Our nation has become like Esau. Esau, for those who don’t know, is from the Old Testament. Whether you believe inGod or teh Bible is really irrelevant to this story because it is about a man who give up everything for one bowl of stew. A man on the cusp of a great inheritance, great wealth, and, in one moment of weakness, he throws it all away because he wanted something right then and there. He is an example to the Christian of one who did not have faith that God would provide for him in his time of need. He is an example to all of us of the foolishness of such a decision. I am sure many of you would say I would never sell my birthright for a bowl of stew. That is really dumb. But you are getting ready to do it now.
Our nation is at the same point. Will we give up our rights for one handout? We are standing at a threshold. We can choose to tough it out and keep our birthright; the right to be independent, to be free, to not fear persecution from the government for our many different beliefs, to better our lives, the freedom to fail, the freedom to succeed, and the freedom to live our lives without a group of elitists telling us how. Or, we can choose to give all that up for one meager handout that we will pay back for the rest of our lives and our children’s lives and our grand children’s lives in blood, sweat, and tears. We will give up the right to have a say in our government and the ability to better ourselves through our own hard work.
The saddest part of this is that we will all suffer for the wrong decision even if we didn’t all support that decision. We will all be subjected to tyranny even if we didn’t want them in power. We will all be carried down the wrong path because a few misguided people will choose a handout over the very ideals that our Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and Bill of Rights guarantee us and which ideals created and sustained our nation to the greatness we have all benefited from today. The warning will go unheeded for now, for it is human nature to repeat their mistakes. But when you all look back and ask why, just remember that you were warned.
